Mykola Tomenko: Former People´s Deputies will not be funded at the Expense of The Verkhovna Rada
Mykola Tomenko, Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, is convinced that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will exert every effort to suspend funding of the former People´s Deputies at the expense of the Parliament´s budget.
He made the above-mentioned statement commenting the information in mass media concerning allocations of pecuniary aid to the former People´s Deputies in the amount exceeding 20 million UAH for 2008.
M.Tomenko believes that the Law of Ukraine "On the Status of a People´s Deputy" should be amended. "In view of recessionary conditions of Ukraine and curtailment of expenditures for the administration, I am convinced that The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will introduce such amendments", - he stated.
However, the Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supposes that moral aspect is even more important. He stresses that a former People´s Deputy should personally file a claim concerning his being unemployed, and then he is liable to the pecuniary aid.
The Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appreciates the decision of the journalists to promulgate relevant information concerning those ex-deputies who receive pecuniary aid, as it is of social relevance.
